I believe in freedom. I believe in America. I believe in Opportunity Feminism.
While studying at the University of Virginia, I founded the Network of enlightened Women, known as NeW, as an organization for conservative university women to provide an alternative to the liberal feminism I saw on campus. It turns out there were a lot of women who felt like modern feminism didn’t represent them. Since starting NeW in college, I have continued to advocate for conservative public policy ideas and how they are best for women through writing, speaking, and organizing.
During more than a decade of speaking and debating on college and law school campuses, I noticed that many conservative women kept quiet, fearful that speaking out would not only impact their grades, but also their social life. I edited a book sharing stories from women about their experience as conservatives on campus, She’s Conservative: Stories of Trials and Triumphs on America’s College Campuses.
I wrote You’re Not Alone: The Conservative Woman’s Guide to College to prepare women for what they may face on campus.
I speak widely on Opportunity Feminism, which seeks to maximize freedom for women so they can build the lives they want to build. I’ve written about NeW, conservative public policy ideas, feminism, and more in The Washington Post, Time Ideas, The Washington Examiner, Politico, National Review Online, Fox News, The Atlantic, The Richmond Times-Dispatch, The Boston Herald, and The News & Observer, and appeared on Fox News, CNN, and C-SPAN. I write regularly on equal pay and the gender wage gap, and in 2019 I testified before the Utah Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights on equal pay.
After graduating from the University of Virginia and University of Virginia School of Law, I practiced law at Wiley Rein LLP in Washington, DC. During the Spring of 2016, I was a Resident Fellow at the Harvard Institute of Politics. I am a Senior Fellow with the Independent Women’s Forum.
