Nevada Caucuses: Young Voters Feel The Bern Again

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a victory speech in Nevada tonight. She still has a lot of work to do with young voters. 82 percent of 17 to 29 year-olds told entrance pollsters they planned to caucus for Senator Bernie Sanders. This follows a poor showing by Clinton among young voters in New Hampshire and Iowa.
In her New Hampshire concession speech, Clinton briefly mentioned young people. But she didn’t quite seem to know how to address them:
I know I have some work to do, particularly with young people, but I will repeat again what I have said this week. Even if they are not supporting me now, I support them. Because I know — I know I’ve had a blessed life, but I also know what it’s like to stumble and fall. And so many people across America know that feeling.
Tonight, Clinton offered some specifics to appeal to young voters, including easing student loan debt, building a better country together, and encouraging national service. As the race turns to South Carolina and beyond, look for Clinton to redouble efforts to win young voters.
